Birthday Bounty

It was my birthday last week and my lovely family spoiled me rotten. They know me so well and there was a recurring theme to my gifts.

I love pretty stationery and you can never have too many notebooks - I have them around the house, in my handbag, in the car, so any time inspiration strikes I can jot it down. But honestly, when they're this gorgeous who needs an excuse?

Easter Time

Easter has always held a special place in my heart - I was born on Easter Day (making chocolate eggs my birthright) and my eldest daughter, Kara, was christened on Easter Day (seriously, we have melted chocolate coarsing through our veins).

This Easter, my family gathered to celebrate the christening of my seven month old daughter, Odette. It was a wonderful day - the vicar, Josie, has been a friend of my parents since before I was born and used to babysit me when I was young. Odette was on best behaviour, smiling at everyone and looking beautiful. We had picked a rather obscene amount of Godparents...so that when we were called to the front, half the congregation stood up with us!

The theme for the christening was swans and roses. Swans because Odette was named after the swan princess in Swan Lake, my all time favourite ballet ever, and roses because Rose is her middle name. I asked my extraordinarily talented sister-in-law, Maria, to design the invitations. I think you'll agree she did an amazing job.

The cake was made by the very clever Jacky of Sugar Magic. Her brief was pretty much the same - swans and roses. Not only was the final result visually outstanding, but it tasted fantastic too!

There were some other commissions made especially for the day, but I'm going to save those for a post in their own right. You'll understand why when you see them.

The actual christening was just a small part of an amazing weekend. Any gathering of my family is always guaranteed to be wonderful, on so many levels. We're all of us completely crazy, but that's what I love about them.
