I was lucky enough to spend the last couple of weeks near Carcassonne in the south of France with my fantabulous family. Not only was this a great opportunity to do some on-the-ground research for my historical novel and indulge in some summer reading (more to come on that in the next few days) but we got to go and see a Medieval Tournament in the city of Carcassonne - twice!

We've been to this area several times before and every time, without fail, we go to see the Jousting Tournament. It's such a fun and impressive show, and I have so much respect for the men who take part. It's all in French of course, and my translation skills aren't amazing, but it really doesn't matter. You get completely swept up in the story. The horses are beautiful and the men are spectacular riders, doing circus type stunts on them at tremendous speeds.

If you ever get the opportunity to go there, the tournament is on every day in July and August - I cannot recommend it enough!
